A Real Miracle
For the past year we have known that our daughter has had some form of scoliosis. As we began to visit doctors we found out that yes she had a pretty severe curvicure of the spinal column. We had come to the point where we headed into New York to visit with a specialist to see what was next. What we had found out was that she had a 25 degree curve which meant she was boardering very serious options. What that meant was if the curve went to 27 degrees she would have to wear a back brace 23 hours a day for an unknown length of time. If the curve would proceed to get worse she would have to have surgery, a very bloody surgery.
When we left the doctors three months ago we knew we had to pray and pray hard. Now, we always pray for our kids when they sleep but the stakes were higher. Every night I would go into her room and pray that her back would straighten not knowing what was going on. My prayer was for a REAL MIRACLE one that we knew it was from God to give Him all the credit because there was no other option.
On Friday we went to the doctors for her three month check up. She had x-rays and then we had to meet with the doctor. Can you believe it, her curve had straigtened from 25 degrees to 17 degrees!!! She had also grown 1 1/2 inches, which is unheard of for a girl her age in only three months.
The doctor had no explanation, because this does not happen. As I sat there I had told the doctor that we bring our daughter to him becuase he is the medical doctor. I had then shared how I am a minister and I believe in the power of prayer. He agreed that what had just taken place in Becky’s body was a real answer to prayer.
We proceeded to talk and he began to share about some hard times he is facing in his families. It was a great conversation and at the end Sue and I told him we would be praying for his family. As we walked away we were overwhelmed by God’s healing power and the opportunity to share our lives with this doctor.
Becky has another check up in 4 months. Our new prayer is that her spine would straighten out where she would no longer have any form of scoliosis.
