HE COULD GO ALL THE WAY!

Being a Jets fan, a die hard Jets fan one can only imagine the excitement and fear that I have every single Sunday during this years NFL season.  What I had experienced last weekend far outweighed even what hopes there are for the Jets to reclaim their position as champions.
This past Saturday was the i9 Sports Flag Football Super Bowl for the 10-12 age group.  My oldest son was the star quarterback for the winning team.  I give him such a title because in their double-header he threw for 6 TD’s and several extra points.  At the end of the final game the team went crazy!  The players were hugging one another, the coaches were hugging one another and the crowd went ballistic.  I have to admit, I never thought I would see such a day as that.  I never thought I would be able to watch my son throw for not only 6 touchdowns but let alone 1.
During this Thanksgiving weekend what I am thankful to God for is both the healing and on going protection of my son.  Over 7 years ago he was diagnosed with a rare eye condition which the doctors thought would cause him to possibly lose his eye sight.  It was a very scary time in our family, not knowing what the future would hold for our little boy.  During a 4 year period he would under go 7 emergency surgeries each one seeming more frightening then the next.
Even in the midst of pain and frustration there has been a beautiful part of this whole situation.  That light in a place of helplessness has been watching the hand of God begin to heal my son.  As a father, I felt helpless and the only thing that I knew to do for my son was to pray for him.  So, every night I would sneak into his room and pray that the God of heaven would reach down and heal my sons eyes.  I have to admit that there was no lightning bolt that zapped him or him falling on the ground convulsing.  What I can testify to is that he has gone far and above what the doctors expected.  He reads at a level 3 times higher then his current grade level, he just received 5 A’s and 3 A+ on his report card, he plays sports and the doctors have been stunned by his progress.  That is what I call a miracle!  So, on this Thanksgiving holiday I am thankful for a God who heals and who has carried my family through the trials that we have faced.
Happy Thanksgiving!!!
